Goodreads Summary: Your greatest enemy isn't what you fight, but what you fear. Elizabeth Grey is one of the king's best witch hunters, devoted to rooting out witchcraft and doling out justice. But when she's accused of being a witch herself, Elizabeth is arrested and sentenced to burn at the stake. Salvation comes from a man she thought was her enemy. Nicholas Perevil, the most powerful and dangerous wizard in the kingdom, offers her a deal: he will save her from execution if she can break the deadly curse that's been laid upon him. But Nicholas and his followers know nothing of Elizabeth's witch hunting past--if they find out, the stake will be the least of her worries. And as she's thrust into the magical world of witches, ghosts, pirates, and one all-too-handsome healer, Elizabeth is forced to redefine her ideas of right and wrong, of friends and enemies, and of love and hate. Virginia Boecker weaves a riveting tale of magic, betrayal, and sacrifice in this unforgettable fantasy debut.

The Witch Hunter is a historical fantasy based in the 16th century, where witches are being persecuted and burned at the stake. Our main character Elizabeth, is a witch hunter, who is in charge of rounding up these witches ready for execution and she has never had a problem with that.... until now. This of cause stems from the fact that her parents were killed by plague, believed to be caused by magic. But when she is found with some magical herbs on her, she is instantly named a witch and sent down to the gallows. But is everything really as it seems?

To be honest I really enjoyed this novel, something gripped me and never really let me go. So I will definitely be reading the rest of the series in the future to find out where Elizabeth's story goes. The only thing i didn't like was her obsession with boys. Some people would simply blame it on the fact that shes sixteen and they're 'boy mad at that age', but I'm 16 and don't know of anyone who's like this.

After looking at the reviews of this on goodreads, i really don't know what had me hooked, i read the novel in two sittings. Although something definitely gripped me with this novel, i'm just not sure what, but all i can think of is the actually writing of the novel.

A huge thanks to Netgalley and Virginia Boeker for the chance of reading this book.
