Goodreads Summary: For fans of Gillian Flynn’s Dark Places and Sara Shepard’s Pretty Little Liars, The Darkest Corners is a psychological thriller about the lies little girls tell, and the deadly truths those lies become.    There are ghosts around every corner in Fayette, Pennsylvania. Tessa left when she was nine and has been trying ever since not to think about it after what happened there that last summer. Memories of things so dark will burn themselves into your mind if you let them. Callie never left. She moved to another house, so she doesn’t have to walk those same halls, but then Callie always was the stronger one. She can handle staring into the faces of her demons—and if she parties hard enough, maybe one day they’ll disappear for good. Tessa and Callie have never talked about what they saw that night. After the trial, Callie drifted and Tessa moved, and childhood friends just have a way of losing touch. But ever since she left, Tessa has had questions. Things have never quite added up. And now she has to go back to Fayette—to Wyatt Stokes, sitting on death row; to Lori Cawley, Callie’s dead cousin; and to the one other person who may be hiding the truth. Only the closer Tessa gets to the truth, the closer she gets to a killer—and this time, it won’t be so easy to run away.

The first thing I have to say about this novel, is that it is extremely intense from the get go. The whole thing was a big drama with drugs, sex, murder, serial killers, prostitution, alcohol and everything else you can think off. There was a lot of back story in this and amazingly it was all told from our main character, Tessa's point of view, with no flashbacks whats so ever. Also everything that at the beginning you don't think is connected, ends up is and nothing is as it seems.

Tessa has to return to her old hometown, when her father becomes ill, whilst their she moves into her ex-best friends house who she has not spoken to since they were witnesses in a murder investigation. There she quickly begins to doubt everything she knows and by the end of the book her whole world gets turned upside down and not in a stereotypical teenage girls way, instead this novel was pretty hardcore with the whole town being extremely messed up. Overall though Tessa  was quite a badass character, doing almost anything to find out what happened to the people in her old hometown including her mother and sister.

Although their were some negatives, personally I believe that it introduces a lot of the characters too early and caused me to get a little confused, as I was confused with Tessa's age at the beginning, as I believed she was around Maggie's age, who is her ex-best friends mum. Another negative was that for at times the book appears a tad too dramatic, although the book did keep me guessing until the very end. Although it did end extremely fast for my liking, I never wanted it to end!

Favourite Quotes

"We all make choices and he made his"

"Sometimes all you have to do is look at the roots to see if the rest of the tree is poisoned" - I highlighted this whilst reading on my kindle, as I thought it was different and I just loved it, and when I looked back onto my notes for writing this review, the quote got even better.

I would recommend this book to anybody who enjoys a good mystery/thriller or someone who just wants to get into the mystery genre. Thank you again to Netgalley, Kara Thomas and Delacorte for the chance of reading and reviewing this amazing book for free,
