Book Review: Proposal by Meg Cabot

Hey my lovelies, this weeks review is the Proposal by Meg Cabot, I have always been a major fan of her writing with my favourite being Avalon High, with the Mediator series coming in a close second. So when I found out that she was releasing a novella and rebooting the series in the NA genre, to say the least I was excited.

Title: The Proposal
Author: Meg Cabot
Publisher: Avon Impulse
Pub. Date: January 19th 2016
Date Read: Wednesday 6th April 2016
Pages: 144
Rating:4.7/5 stars
SummaryThe last place Suze Simon expects to find herself during Valentine’s Day is a cemetery. But that’s what happens when you’re a mediator – cursed with the “gift” of communicating with the dead.
That’s how Suze has ended up at the graves of a pair of NCDPs - Non-Compliant Deceased Persons – whose drama didn’t end with death. It’s Suze’s job to make sure they move on—for good.
But the NCDPs aren’t the only ones with problems. The reason Suze is spending her Valentine’s Day with the undead instead of her boyfriend, Jesse, is because he’s having so much trouble adjusting to life after death . . . not surprising, considering the fact that he used to be an NCDP himself, and now his girlfriend busts his former kind for a living, while he tries to cure his kind of what used to ail him.
Can Suze use her mediating skills to propose a mutual resolution, and bring all these young lovers together - including Jesse and herself - especially on the night Saint Valentine declared sacred to romance?
Or will she end up alone—and possibly undead—herself?

If you were planning to reading this and Remembrance, after not reading the original series for awhile, i greatly suggest that you do as I read this remembering only snippets of the original series. As sure I remember Jesse and Suze, but for the life of me I could not remember who Paul was and after reading the sneak peak of the first chapter I've come to the conclusion that he is going to be a big part of the series again. Now after my little warning i shall get on with the review.

Proposal picks up with Suze being twenty one years old and in college,  its valentines day and where does she find herself? With a ghost of cause and not with her boyfriend. Suze is her usual sarcastic self through out the novella, throwing herself in harms way all the time in order to help the ghosts move on. The only thing I wish this had more of is  Father Dominic, as I always found him funny and is probably one of my favourite characters.

And bless that Jesse was still very much himself being fully respectable and chivalrous with Suze and not doing anything against his catholic religion much to Suze's chagrin.  I really liked how even though he is now human and living in the twenty first century that Meg Cabot didn't decide to change him to make it more of a explicit book as they are now in the New Adult genre. However, I imagine there maybe some scenes like this in Remembrance.

In conclusion, this was a good quick read in order to get me ready for reading Remembrance and for me it was a nice reprisal of all of the fantasy books I have been reading as of late.

Thank you for reading my lovelies, this is it for this week, if you would like to see more of what I am currently reading you can check me out on GoodreadsInstagram and Twitter
